Details under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule for CY 2017

On July 7, 2016, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a proposed rule that updates payment policies, payment rates, and quality provisions for services furnished under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) for calendar year (CY) 2017.

You may access the proposed rule AUC section HERE.  In the proposed rule, CMS outlines proposals for priority clinical areas, clinical decision support mechanism (CDSM) requirements, the CDSM application process, and exceptions for ordering professionals for whom consultation with AUC would  pose a significant hardship.

Details under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule for CY 2016
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) rule for 2016. CMS accepted public comments on the rule until Sept. 8, 2015 and issued the final 2016 PFS mid-November.

The rule addresses a provision found in Section 218(b) of The Protecting Access to Medicare Act (PAMA) that amended the Medicare Part B statute by adding a new section 1834(q) of the Act entitled, “Recognizing Appropriate Use Criteria for Certain Imaging Services.”
